■ Alanya: Alanya is a beautiful centre with its beautiful sandy beaches, modern hotels and motels, as well as numerous fish restaurants, cafes, clubs and bars. The cafes that ring the harbor are popular gathering places for tourists and locals.
■ Izmir: Izmir, the city which is home to the Temple of Artemis, is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The city is known as “Beautiful Izmir” in Turkey, is located at the start of a long and narrow gulf, and decorated with yachts, passenger shops and gulf steamers. It has a warm climate and the cooling sea breeze in the summer takes away the burning hear of the sun.

■ Visit museums: A great number of museums in Turkey display the wealth and history unearthed during the excavations carried out throughout Anatolia, which has been home to many civilizations for thousands of years. Turkey’s museums whose foundations were laid in the 19th century have come a long way since then.
■ Explore mosaics: All around Anatolia, it is possible to come across the most beautiful examples of mosaic art made of fragments of tiles and pottery which, in history, was first applied by the Sumerians 5000 years ago. The unique mosaics from the Roman and Byzantine Empires, which survived the historical events and natural disasters, are today on display in major museums in Turkey. The world’s second and third biggest mosaic museums are found in Antioch and Zeugma.
